Description
In the 5-week Humanity Centered Design Workshop, you will learn to design for humanity with professional teamwork and digital technologies.Technological disruptions, environmental impacts and societal uncertainties have been changing the world rapidly. Being innovative is essential for designing a product that could meet the complex needs of user (i.e. the person using the product) while not compensating the environmental responsibility.
This workshop emphasizes “learning-by-doing” in which various human centered design methods are introduced and practiced with guidance through completing a group based design project. The core of the workshop is to learn how to conduct UX design research, ideate innovatively, iterate design process bolstered with environmental responsible decisions, run usability testing, and more.
Amongst others, tools/methods introduced in the workshop include:
- 3D scanning and VAR rendering for UX design research.
- System thinking for eco-system’s causal interdependency evaluation.
- Prototyping skill including 3D printing for usability testing.
- CDIO compliant project basis.
Admission
The short term exchange programme is founded in VIA's Mechanical Engineering bachelor's degree programme, but is open to all students is the engineering field who is interested in product design and teamwork. Students are expected to have basic engineering skills within the areas of materials, technical drawings and 3D CAD.Your home institution must have an inter-institutional agreement with VIA University College in order for you to be able to apply for an exchange programme at VIA.
