Do you want to learn how to plan building projects? And would you like to have a broad understanding of the various building stages? Then be a building technician! As a building technician you are the site’s unifying leader. You will have the skills to discuss the general principles of construction with architects and builders. At the same time you will be the trademen’s sparring partner when solving technical challenges or choosing materials.

The programme can be studied in either Horsens or Aarhus C.

With a degree in construction technology, you can find work in many types of companies related to the construction industry – typically among architects, contractors, builders and manufacturers of building elements. You will not be limited to existing companies when it is times to finding a job. Several construction technicians have chosen to start their own companies. With your own firm, you can choose to work in precisely those areas you think are most exciting.

About the Degree

The Academy Profession programmes combine theory with practice and are suited for employment in business and industry. In some programmes students have the possiblity of a top-up degree in which they continue at a bachelor level within a prespecified or related field. The top-up degree is a 90 ECTS supplement programme resulting in a Professional Bachelor Degree. 


You meet the entry requirements if you have an upper secondary school leaving certificate equivalent to the Danish, such as ‘gymnasium', HF, HHX and HTX, including the equivalent of level C in Mathematics and English B.

In addition, documentation may be required verifying that your proficiency in English is at a specified level. Read about the language requirements of VIA University College.  

The programme begins twice a year, in August and February. The application process for the programme start in February will be handled manually. There is a tuition fee for all full-time degree students outside EU, EAA, or from Switzerland. 

The tuition fees are:
  • 1st year (1st and 2nd semester): EUR 15.100
  • 3rd semester: EUR 7.550
  • 4th semester: EUR 7.550 
Students within an exchange programme are not required to pay tuition.

Campus Horsens offers a vibrant student life in an international setting. Both Danish and international students create a very active study environment in which common areas and closely situated student accommodation will frame your life.
