A bachelor (of engineering) degree in Mechanical Engineering is a three-and-a-half-year study programme aiming at direct employment as mechanical engineer. During your studies you learn to plan and carry out projects and you gain an understanding of the design of industrial products.

The first part of the study programme
In the first part of your studies you learn about product development. Among other things, you learn to analyse user wishes and needs, to develop user-friendly design, to select the optimal production methods, to calculate strengths, durability, costs, etc., to make models, and to test prototypes.

The second part of the study programme
In the second part of your studies you learn about, for example, finances and corporate management, design of mechanical and thermal systems, automation of processes, and advanced calculations of strengths.

Semester themes
Each semester is based on a theme. Read more about the structure of the programme.

Project work and solving problems for companies
You become part of a project based and problem based study environment where you work in project groups together with your fellow students. In the project group you and your fellow students:

- are responsible for planning and carrying out the project
- will cooperate and meet the deadlines
- will solve problems for companies
- will have your own project room

Internship and final project
In the sixth semester you must complete the engineering internship in a company in Denmark or abroad. Through the internship you acquire relevant work experience of great benefit to you in your following career. In the final semester you carry out the final project – usually also in cooperation with a company.

As a Mechanical Engineer you will be able to pursue a career as e.g.

- Development engineer or project manager in medium-sized or large companies in industrial production or machine manufacturing
- head of manufacturing department
- manager of sales
- project responsible for development, production, sales and procurement
- or as an entrepreneur developing your own ideas and making business plans, prototypes, tests and documentation.
