Siemens invests big in Danish wind industry research

Over the next two years Siemens is to invest over EUR150 million in further expansion of its wind business. Two new Research and Development (R&D) Centers are to be set up in the Danish towns of Brande and Aalborg

Starting 2012, the highly successful Offshore Business will also have a new Center of Competence in the Danish city of Vejle.

The investment in the new R&D Centers "will strengthen our leading position in wind turbine technology,” says Henrik Stiesdal, Chief Technology Officer of the Siemens Wind Power Business Unit. "This is a clear indicator that Siemens still considers Denmark as very important to the company's wind business," says Jens Peter Saul, CEO of Siemens Wind Power.
