The 2017 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) places the American Universites Harvard, Stanford and  British University of Cambridge in the top three worldwide, but the Danish universities are putting up a good fight.

The University of Copenhagen comes in six within Continental Europe out-ranked by University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University College London, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, and Imperial College London.

It is the second time since the ARWU rankings began in 2003, that a Danish institution has made the 30th place and the University of Copenhagen is not the only Danish University listed in the ranking.

Aarhus University jumps eight spots from 73 in 2015 to number 65 in 2016 and holds the spot this year.

The Technical University of Denmark makes the 100-150 range, in which schools were not assigned a specific ranking. Aalborg University makes the 201-300 range, and the University of Southern Denmark is placed in the 301-400 range.
