Description
Geography at Aalborg University is aimed at analyzing the spatial extent of natural resources and the processes that shape and change the landscape. The environmental problems that arise from using resources such as water, soil and minerals is also at the core of physical geography. The programme in Geography qualifies you to analyze environmental problems in both public and private organizations. You will be able to participate and lead work at all organizational levels in relation to use, protection and planning of natural resources in a global context. The education integrates ecological understanding with fundamental understanding of the governing processes shaping resources of the Earth. The successful candidate will also be able to participate in education and research within sub-disciplines of physical geography.
A part of the study consists of courses and seminars. They may be held as presentations from lecturers, assignments and exercises, or take the form of presentations which the students have prepared.
The second part of the study is project based. Students work in groups on specific projects concerning real world problems within the field of physical geography in which field surveys and experimental work is central.
During your third semester, you have the possibility to do a traineeship at a private or public company/organization or to study a semester at another university abroad. Many students use this possibility to improve their competencies by learning things in a new way, looking at different engineering aspects etc. A traineeship is usually taken within a consultative engineering company.
