Description

As a graduate student in Mathematics-Economics, you will work with economic modelling and its deeper foundation in advanced mathematics and statistics.

Economic modelling applies to the macro-economic calculations that are used, for example, by Danmarks Nationalbank and the European Central Bank.

Other areas of use are the modelling of financial risks used by banks and insurance companies; forecasting, where interest rates or other key economic variables are predicted; and management and planning of production and traffic.

The MSc programme in Mathematics-Economics puts a great deal of emphasis on mathematical and statistical theory. Therefore, your primary motivation for choosing this programme should be your interest in mathematics.

Career Opportunities

The job opportunities are very good for MSc graduates in mathematics-economics. For example, many mathematical economists work in Denmark and abroad in the financial sector with advanced model development for banks and insurance companies, and others work at national banks and public institutions, and also as researchers at universities.

The close collaboration and relationship with economics is also reflected in the fact that many economic advisers and experts are mathematical economists.
