DTU’s main campus consists of more than 100 buildings on a 106-hectare plain, which is divided into four quadrants—just like points in a coordinate system. The campus is safe and secure, and a site of great natural beauty with wooded areas, sports fields, inner courtyards, and gardens.  

The campus is located within the Greater Copenhagen Area and is easily accessed by car or public transport. You can get from DTU to Copenhagen Center in about 40 minutes by bus or trian, 45 minutes by bike and 20 minutes by car.

Most of the DTU main campus was build in the 1960s and 1970s, but new and modern facilities have been build continuously. DTU is currently investing more than 500,000,000 EUR in a comprehensive transformation of the university buildings and infrastructure, which is aimed at providing world-class research and student facilities.

Description

This MSc programme focuses on the use of computer-based methods and mathematical models to analyse the vast amounts of biological data produced using high-throughput methods. Examples of biological data include DNA and protein sequences, mRNA levels, lists of post-translational modifications, protein-protein interaction data, and metabolic pathway information.

Although computational analysis accounts for a large part of the programme, students also gain a deep understanding of the underlying molecular biology and the experimental methods used to generate the large volumes of data.

Description

The Medicine and Technology programme (Biomedical Engineering) focuses on the design of future diagnostic and treatment methods at hospitals and in the field. The interaction between the human organism, technical equipment, and methods is essential to medicine and technology.

We are becoming increasingly dependent on advanced equipment for patient diagnosis and treatment—e.g. large CT scanners, PET scanners for studying molecular processes in cancer, as well as pacemakers and DNA chips for studying the genome.

Medicine and Technology is an interdisciplinary programme offered by DTU in collaboration with the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen.

Description

New pharmaceuticals, enzymes for washing powder and beer brewing, or dyes and other ingredients used in food production are based on years of interdisciplinary research in biotechnology. This programme gives you a fundamental knowledge of biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, and process technology. You will learn to apply this knowledge to biotechnological problems—–ranging from basic research issues to the development of new cell factories and the study of their behaviour in bioreactors—–and acquire the relevant competencies for collecting and analysing wide-ranging data.

Career Opportunities  

Completion of the International Programme in Biotechnology at the Technical University of Denmark will qualify participants for jobs in research, development, management, and production in biotechnological, food and medical industries, as well as in education. 
Successful candidates will also be qualified to apply for further PhD studies.

Admission

Description

Engineers in Communication Technologies and System Design contribute to the development of the technology on which modern society relies. The MSc programme covers areas ranging from advanced component and system design through complex network structures to the development of services and ICT solutions that meet user expectations. Courses include three central, traditional disciplines that, to some extent, share a common technical-scientific basis: component and software design, system development and methods, and applications. 

There are four recommended study lines, but students are welcome to make individual selections to cover their special fields of interest.

Career Opportunities 

Communication Technologies and System Design-graduates are qualified to conduct research, development, planning, and analysis tasks in a number of areas related to telecommunication. Description

Electrical and Mechanical Engineering is a DTU-KAIST Dual Degree programme. This means that you get to spend one year at DTU and one year at KAIST, Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. You get a Danish and an international degree, which gives you personal and academic skills with an international foundation. This double degree programme focuses on acoustics as well as automation and robot technology. Acoustics covers a wide range of topics, including the fundamentals of sound propagation, advanced measurement techniques, and understanding and modelling of the normal and impaired human hearing system. Automation and robot technology covers topics such as control theory, automation and mobile robotics, including walking robots.

Career Opportunities

Description

Engineering Acoustics is a DTU-KAIST Dual Degree programme. This means that you get to spend one year at DTU and one year at KAIST, Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. You get a Danish and an international degree, which gives you personal and academic skills with an international foundation. The dual degree in Engineering Acoustics spans over a large area of topics such as e.g. human hearing and reaction to sound, acoustic measurement methods, electroacoustic systems, architectural acoustics, environmental acoustics, and noise and vibration control and will give you the capability to work with a number of different important areas such as improving speech intelligibility for the hearing impaired, reducing hazardous noise levels in residential areas and working environments, or improving the sound reproduction from a loudspeaker system.  


Career Opportunities  

The dual degree in Engineering Acoustics provides a good basis for employment opportunities within fields such as for example the hearing aid industry, with measuring equipment manufacturers, and with firms of engineering consultants.

In collaboration with six European universities, DTU offers an Erasmus Mundus joint double degree Master's programme in Security and Cloud Computing (SECCLO), giving you a broad understanding of technologies for mobile and cloud computing, and providing you with the skills to design, build, and evaluate secure computing systems as a computer science professional.

EWEM is a 2 year master course. The joint first semester and the specific multi-disciplinary and project-oriented teaching will give the student the ability to transfer knowledge and competences beyond his/her specialisation and to embed design choices in a sociotechnical context. This BSc programme has an interdisciplinary approach that focuses on the broad and general engineering competencies. Description

The double degree programme focuses on addressing the entire value chain and the production of aquatic food throughout the entire production and food supply chain—–linking primary production, including aquaculture and wild catch, with processing and distribution to the consumers in terms of quality and safety.

Keys elements of the master’s programme:
  • a double degree (60/60 ECTS)
  • three universities of entry–UMB, NTNU and DTU–depending on the study track
  • first semester (30 ECTS) essentially as e-learning offered in collaboration between the partners
  • specialization line specific to the university combinations

The focus of this double degree programme is on some of the most pressing current political issues such as climate change, sustainable generation of energy, management and renewal of ageing urban infrastructure, provision of safe drinking water, and contaminated land and waste management. These issues are approached through interdisciplinary studies, bridging all the sciences and placing them in a social, economic, and legal context. 

The eNviro5Tech joint MSc degree is pooling resources to create the most comprehensive degree in Environmental Engineering in the world. The programme involves a set of five predefined study tracks leading to double degrees in Environmental Engineering.

Description

Offshore Wind Energy is a DTU-KAIST Dual Degree programme. This means that you get to spend one year at DTU and one year at KAIST—Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. You earn both a Danish and an international degree, which gives you personal and academic skills with an international foundation.

The aim of the Offshore Wind Energy Dual Degree programme is to give you a general understanding of offshore wind energy systems and an in-depth knowledge of aerodynamics, aeroelasticity, mechanics, grid connection, power systems, hydrodynamics, offshore structure design, and wind farm planning, which will qualify you to analyse, design, develop, and operate offshore wind energy systems.
 

Career Opportunities

This MSc programme focuses on the safe, innovative, environmentally sound, and economically viable extraction of oil and natural gas. Description

The Photonics Engineering Dual Degree programme between DTU and Kaist gives you the opportunity to spend one year at DTU and one year at KAIST, Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, respectively. You earn a Danish and an international master's degree which gives you personal and academic skills with an international foundation. The rapid growth of our use of electronic communication—for example in various internet services as YouTube, FaceTime, Spotify, etc.—is an example of an ever-increasing photonics technology. Another example of photonics as a fast-moving technology is the number of photonics start-up companies that emerge, for example within food analysis, medical treatment, and the energy sector.  

Career Opportunities

DTU’s main campus consists of more than 100 buildings on a 106-hectare plain, which is divided into four quadrants—just like points in a coordinate system. The campus is safe and secure, and a site of great natural beauty with wooded areas, sports fields, inner courtyards, and gardens.  

The campus is located within the Greater Copenhagen Area and is easily accessed by car or public transport. You can get from DTU to Copenhagen Center in about 40 minutes by bus or trian, 45 minutes by bike and 20 minutes by car.

Most of the DTU main campus was build in the 1960s and 1970s, but new and modern facilities have been build continuously. DTU is currently investing more than 500,000,000 EUR in a comprehensive transformation of the university buildings and infrastructure, which is aimed at providing world-class research and student facilities.

Description

Our Wind Energy Master programme is a web-based education with a broad academic profile. The programme covers all essential aspects of wind energy engineering based on the research activities taking place at DTU Wind Energy. This one-year master's programme has a vocational focus and provides you with the practical skills and knowledge needed in the private and public wind energy sectors.

This online master is aimed towards individuals who are already affiliated with the wind energy industry, such as developers and manufacturers, consultants, environmental agencies, shipping industry etc. Applicants must have a least two years of relevant work experience. Relevant work experience could be, but is not limited to:
  • The wind energy industry
  • Oil and gas companies
  • Shipping companies
  • Companies performing environmental assessments
  • Public agencies with responsibilities related to engineering and natural sciences.
A screening process will take place upon registration to ensure that participants are qualified to enter the programme.

Part-Time Studies

The programme is designed as a part-time programme within a two-year period. It corresponds to one year of full-time study but is spread over two years to accommodate participants doing the programme concurrently with having a full-time job.

Even though it is an online Master’s programme, participants will be required to attend the programme physically a couple of times, for example in connection with the defence of the final project.
