Danish universities in the CWUR 2026 World University Rankings

Now you have the opportunity to delve a little deeper into the newest university rankings. How have Danish universities been assessed? And how can you use this ranking as an international student?

The 2026 World University Rankings is published by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR). It includes seven Danish universities among the 2000 highest-ranked universities worldwide out of more than 20.000 ranked institutions.

CWUR assesses universities using indicators to rank the included institutions. These indicators relate to education, alumni outcomes, faculty achievements, and research performance.

The ranking is based on publicly available data and it does not rely on institutional submissions or academic reputation surveys.

A possibility to compare - but consider other factors

International university rankings can provide information about an institution’s research activity and academic performance in a global context. However, rankings do not capture all aspects of higher education. Prospective students may also wish to consider factors such as programme content, teaching methods, student support services, campus environment, career opportunities, and study location when comparing universities in Denmark or across countries.

With rankings like this, international students not only have the opportunity to discover and learn more about Danish universities, but also to compare with other universities across Europe or even the entire world. A comparison of different educational institutions or specific study programmes can be a good starting point for your research and decision about where you want to study.

Not all types of higher education are included

Although the majority of study programmes offered in English at higher education institutions in Denmark are at universities, this is not sufficient. There are also English-taught study programmes at Danish University Colleges, Business Academies or Artistic Higher Education Institutions.
