Modelling and simulation of dynamic systems

The developing process in technical industries is at present undergoing a revolution with the more and more abundant use of modelling and simulation (‘digitalization’).  

Be prepared for that revolution and join our international summer school course in modelling and simulation of dynamic systems. The course is hosted by SDU Electrical Engineering and will include activities in Odense and in Sønderborg, including visits to our new Centre for Industrial Electronics . Furthermore, the course will bring you into direct contact with inspiring specialists and teachers within electrical engineering that have impressive contacts to the industrial world affiliated with electronic products.

Simulations tools are getting smarter and quicker, and in the years to come they will be taking over and / or improve a lot of laboratory tests for development and prototyping of revolutionary new products.  

The objective of this two-week intensive course is to introduce modelling of dynamic systems with focus on electrical and electromechanically systems, and to simulate response under different situations and with different impacts. 

Having completed the course, you will have developed mathematical models for systems such as motors, inverted pendulums, electrical cars etc. and for different purposes. In addition, you will have simulated the models under diverse boundary conditions. The main simulation software is Matlab / Simulink - you will be introduced to the Matlab and Simulink world during the course.

Required skills

The course is intended for students with a educational background in electrical engineering, electronics, mechatronics or similar. It is recommended that the student have basic knowledge about mathematics, electronics and transfer functions in time and frequency.

Teaching and Instruction method 

The class will be lectures, exercises and a project – and based on Matlab.


Exchange students from a partner university pay no tuition. Guest students pay tuition fees. Tuition vary according to course and your nationality. Read more on official website.
