As a graduate of the Academy Profession Degree Programme in Automation Engineering, you will be able to create safe and innovative solutions for enterprises by developing and optimising their technical systems and automatic facilities.
You will be in charge of practical work, including but not limited to, installing, programming, commissioning, optimising and operating automatic systems in technical production and manufacturing environments.
The study programme will give you broad knowledge of the construction and optimization of technical control systems and automatic industrial facilities.


As a graduate of Automation Engineering you can work in private and public development enterprises, industrial companies that produce e.g. wind turbines, pumps, robotic welding machines or flexible manufacturing systems (FMS). Your title will typically be project manager, installation manager, technical manager, programmer, PLC or SCADA programmer, SRO engineer or systems technician.


The programme is divided into four semesters.
Semesters from 1 to 3 cover compulsory educational components under the national and institutional curricula as well as elective ones.

The national curriculum consists of subjects within:
- Design and construction of automation units
- Integration of automatic units
- Systems design of automatic process and production lines
- Business-related subjects

The institutional curriculum includes subjects within:
- Control Technology, configuration and programming 
- Mechanical and physical modelling
- Electro-technical system design and project development
- Innovation
- Configuration, programming, operator interface and communication
- Communications technology, data processing and data exchange
- Optimisation, monitoring and operator interface
- Business knowledge

Electives may be:
- Databases
- Robotics technology
- Optimisation
- High-level programming
- Knowledge technology
- Wireless technologies

Semester 4 is devoted to:
• A three month internship
• A final AP degree project
