Description

By understanding the consumer mindset you will be able to effectively communicate and position brands. You will learn to use your knowledge of the consumer to increase and measure the value of brands and to assess the effects of a chosen brand strategy.

The skills you obtain will allow you to effectively identify deeply held and meaningful needs of consumers, such as symbolic meanings and identity expressions, which will enable you to manage a brand or portfolio of brands. By doing this, you can create a competitive advantage for the company as well as consumer loyalty, which in turn will create value for the company as well as consumers.

Career Opportunities

Many graduates will find employment as brand managers. From this position you will be in charge of a brand or portfolio of brands and plan the strategy for them. Through analysing the target  consumers of the product that you are in charge of, you will work on planning an optimal communications tactics to reach that group in the most effective way.
You could also work as a product manager, closer to the development of new products.


Many graduates find their way into advertising, because the communication skills and understanding of emotional and subconscious drivers acquired in the concentration are very useful in putting together campaigns that target different segments of potential buyers.
Some students will also find  job opportunities  in consulting where they can help companies with a number of different problems. You could for instance give recommendations to a company that is struggling with their sales numbers in a certain market, or are looking to reach a new user group. You could also help a company prepare for the launch of a new product, and enter a new market.

About the degree

Brand and Communications Management is a two-year master programme that is divided into 4 semesters. The fall semester runs from September through November with exams in November and January; and the spring semester from February through April with exams in April, May and June. The first year, first and second  semester, consists of eight compulsory courses that all revolve around the management of brands, including communications. There is  a fair degree of progression and interaction between the courses, making it a true specialisation within the field of branding. The third semester consists of elective courses and the fourth semester finishes off the program with the master thesis.

You are qualified for admission to this programme if you fulfil the specific entry requirements, the language requirement, and have a relevant academic bachelor degree.

Tuition

There is a tuition fee for all full-time degree students from outside the EU, EEA or Switzerland.

Students within an exchange programme are not required to pay tuition.
