International trade issues are everywhere in the news. The rumblings of U.S.-China trade wars, Brexit disagreement, Make America Great Again controversy, and other events of the day serve to underscore the significance of the international trade in our lives. A grasp of international trade theory and policy should allow students to analyze events occurring in the world economy and evaluate the wisdom of national policies.

By combining theory with current events, the course will enable students to make sense of the persistent debates on international trade issues that occur in public forums. Upon completion of the class, students will be able to evaluate the new era, explain the theories of trade and policy, and identify the US and China’s significance in the world economy
