Electro-Mechanical Systems Design

Master (2 years) of Science in Engineering (Electro-Mechanical Systems Design), 120 ECTS

Institution Aalborg University (AAU)
Campus Aalborg
Duration 2 years
Tuition per term (Non-EU/EAA/CH) 6700 EUR
Tuition per term (EU/EAA/CH) 0 EUR

The MSc programme in Electro-Mechanical System Design (EMSD) focuses on simulation and design of complex and compound systems. You will learn to optimise exististing constructions and to create new innovative products.

The programme educates graduates to be able to engineer systems and devices where mechanics, electronics, and intelligent control systems are integrated tightly. In this way, synergetic advantages can be exploited in order to develop truly mechatronic products where different technologies are merged together in the best possible way for use in e.g. industrial products and in automotive components.

As a candidate at the Electro-Mechanical Systems Design programme, you gain a broad knowledge within the areas of mechatronic system design, modelling and analysis of electro-mechanical systems, information technology and control theory. This enables you to take part in interdisciplinary technical development and research projects.

In the programme, emphasis is put on disciplines such as modelling of multi-domain systems, simulation, system optimisation, and applied control engineering.

Career Opportunities

Candidates typically pursue a technical career in either industry or academia, but others favour project management positions.
In the windmill- and energy industry you can take part in the technical development and research, and you can be the technical manager of development projects. You can also choose to work in a small company as a project manager or a central project worker.

A few examples of companies that employ graduates from the programme include:
- Vestas Wind Systems
- Grundfos
- Siemens Wind Power

Admission to the Master's programme in Electro-Mechanical Systems Design requires a Bachelor of science in engineering.

In addition, documentation will be required to verify that your proficiency in English is at an acceptable level.
