The parents’ health and other factors during pregnancy can influence fetus growth and development, neonatal and child cognitive development and health, preschool and school health and performance, and puberty development. Focus in this course will be on how lifestyle, diet and environmental exposures during pregnancy can affect fecundity, fetal and infant growth, and CNS development - including ASD, ADHD, schizophrenia and Cerebral Palsy. The course will also address health risk by genetic susceptibility assessed by genetic polymorphisms and epigenetic analyses that might elucidate the environmental exposures and risk for poor neurodevelopmental outcome.
