Name: Robotics

Type: University Programme

Duration: 2 years

European transfer credits: 120 ECTS

Language: English

Robotics deals with all aspects of modern information technology. The programme combines the computer scientist's knowledge in programming with the engineer's insight in machines and equipment, and you get an overview of all areas within computer technology.

You must choose between one of four fields of study.

In Computer Systems Engineering/Embedded Systems you will work with the embedding of computers and electronics into different products. You will study topics like Embedded Control, Automation, Embedded Hard- & Software Architecture, Input/output Techniques and System Software. You will research and experiment with embedded systems yourself. You will be combine theory with practical hands-on work, and you will experience trans-disciplinary cooperation with other engineering disciplines.

In Computer Systems Engineering/Modern Artificial Intelligence you will learn to incorporate advanced artificial intelligence into robots, enabling them to behave intelligently and autonomously. You will follow courses in Classical Artificial Intelligence, Behaviour-based Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithms, Machine Learning and Adaptive Robots. You will be introduced to the research areas of modular robotics and biomemetic robots. The theories will be tried out on real robots in hands-on projects.

In Computer Systems Engineering/Robotics, you will work with the development of robots for industrial purposes.

You will learn through Mathematics, IT and Robotics, how to make robots behave intelligently and autonomously.

You will study topics such as Applied Mathematics, Machine Vision, Control and Robotics, Mathematical Modelling of Industrial Systems and Computer Simulation and Animation.

In the Software Systems Engineering programme, you will work with the development of software for use within manufacturing.

This programme aims to provide you with competences to work with the fundamental yet complex integration of:

  • State-of-the-art object-oriented software engineering concepts, principles, and tools
  • Advanced technologies and novel application types such as pervasive and ubiquitous computing, virtual and augmented reality, and robotics.

Teaching varies between lectures and classroom instruction. In addition, there is often project work together with other students. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions.

Robotics can be studied as a:

  • 2-year MSc programme (120 ECTS)

You also have the possibility to take single courses or subjects within the programme.

If you choose to complete the master's programme, you will graduate with the academic title of Master of Science in Engineering (MSc).

Educational Institutions

You can study Robotics at the University of Southern Denmark (Syddansk Universitet) in Odense.

Entry Requirements

To be admitted to an MSc programme, you must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject.

In addition, documentation may be required verifying your proficiency in English is at a specified level.

Contact the educational institution you wish to apply to for detailed information on entry requirements and required English proficiency levels.

To find out how you can get your foreign certificate assessed for recognition here in Denmark, see the Danish Agency for International Education .

Admission

The application deadline for MSc programmes varies according to the educational institution. Contact the individual institution for further information regarding its application deadline and forms. Apply directly at the university.

Exchange students should contact their home institution for information on application procedures and deadlines.

Tuition

There is a tuition fee for all full-time degree students, unless you are a student from a Nordic or EU country, or from Liechtenstein.

Students within an exchange programme are not required to pay tuition.

Contact the individual institution for more specific information.

Semester Start

An academic year is made up of two semesters, which begin around September 1 and February 1.
