European Studies (Humanities) is an interdisciplinary programme, whose starting point is the geographic area traditionally considered as Europe. You will study the historical, political, social and cultural conditions, which have influenced Europe's development. Based on this, you will, among other things, be able to study and analyse the growing political and economical integration in the EU.

You learn to analyse significant developments and conflicts in Europe, based on a historical and theoretical perspective. The programme consists of three main areas:

  • European History, where you learn, among other things, about common development tendencies and which roles religion, science and colonisation etc. have played in forming the concept of Europe
  • European Politics, where you learn, for example, about the political institutions and the historical development of democracy
  • European Culture, which gives you the theoretical and methodological competences to study European everyday life

Teaching varies between lectures and classroom instruction. In addition, there is often project work together with other students. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions.

If you choose to complete the master's degree programme, you will graduate with the academic title of Master of Arts (MA).
