Master Natural Sciences
Master degrees within the field of Natural Science
Agricultural Development
Agricultural Development deals with the development of agriculture in the developing countries. You will learn about how, through knowledge on nutrition, environment and economics, you can create better conditions for people and nature in the individual countries.
Agro-Environmental Management
The programme focuses on the pressure that agricultural production and climate changes put on nature and the environment.
Agrobiology
The programme is about agriculture, both animal production and plant production. You will learn about agriculture in a global perspective and about organic farming.
Aquatic Science and Technology
The programme combines biological, technological and mathematical courses. It gives you qualifications for working with global issues within climate, environment and food supply.
Bioinformatics
Bioinformatics combines mathematics, biology and computer science. You will learn how to use mathematical methods and computer models to examine biological data.
Biology-Biotechnology
The Biology-Biotechnology programme deals with how you use plant cells, animal cells and microorganisms in, for example, production of foods, pest control or making biological treatment systems for environmental use.
Biosystems Engineering
This programme combines biology and technology. You specialise in either automation or environmental technology.
Biotechnology
Biotechnology deals with the production of products with the help of living organisms, for example, yeast in beer production or the baking of bread. In biotechnology, you use gene-spliced organisms to, for example, produce medicines.
Biotechnology (Engineering)
By studying cells and the chemical properties of cells, you learn to develop, for example, new and improved medicines, foods or environmentally friendly forms of energy.
Biotechnology, Chemistry and Environmental Engineering
You will study the chemical and biological processes applied in different areas of production. You will, for example, work with the production of pharmaceuticals, foods or clean water.
Chemistry
Chemistry is a part of everything in our surroundings. In the Chemistry programme, you learn about how different types of matter are combined and what properties they possess. This could be, for example, the matter found in food or medicine.
Chemistry (Engineering)
You will study and research in chemical and biological processes in for example food products, washing powder, medicine and alternative energies.
Environmental and Natural Resource Economics
In the programme, you will study the correlation between economics and the environment. You will learn, for example, about how you make the most of different forms of natural resources, for example oil. You will also learn about the problems with pollution and what you can do to avoid them.
Environmental Biology
Environmental Biology deals with living organisms and their physical surroundings. You will study living organisms of all sizes from cells to large mammals. Environmental biologists also examine how humans affect nature.
Environmental Chemistry
The programme gives an understanding on how we affect the surrounding ecosystems when we utilise the natural resources. You will study topics like ecology, the greenhouse effect and heavy metals.
Environmental Chemistry and Health
In this programme, you will study the effects that harmful substances have to the environment and to humans. You will develop ways to avoid the adverse effects that chemical substances have on the environment and on the people's health.
Environmental Management
The Master of Science Programme in Environmental Management at Aalborg University is directed at science and engineering students who are interested in topics related to sustainability and environmental management. The programme is designed to meet these new challenges, by integrating inputs from the social and human sciences into the study of planning and engineering. The focus is on how firms, governments, and other organisations can support sustainable development in an economically efficient and socially acceptable manner.
Food Science and Technology
You will learn about foods and their production and about health. You will gain a broad knowledge of the most important foods, from harvest to dinner table.
Forest and Nature Management
Forests and nature have many important functions. They protect the biological diversity, provide pure drinking water, produce trees and give us experiences such as hunting, fishery and recreation. Forests are important for the well being of the entire earth – animals, plants, humans, the climate and the environment rely on them.
Geology-Geoscience
The Earth's formation and development is a geological discipline. You will learn about which minerals and rock forms the Earth is made of, how the Earth has developed and how humans can uncover and use the Earth's raw materials.
Horticulture
Horticulture is the study of gardening. The subject spans from biology to economics and gives you the scientific background to work with fruit and plant production.
Human Biology
Human Biology is an interdisciplinary, science oriented study. Focus is on the basic science disciplines of importance for our understanding of human health and disease.
Mathematical Modelling and Computation
Study and develop mathematical models and methods for industrial applications, agriculture, information services, financial institutions and government.
Mathematics
Mathematics is a theoretical subject, where you learn to solve problems with the help of numbers and symbols. You will learn to think logically and abstractly with the help of mathematical methods and terms.
Medialogy
Medialogy is both a technical and creative programme. You will learn to use modern technology to create, among other things, computer games, films and music.
Molecular Biology
The study of cells, and the molecules that make them up, are the core of molecular biology. You will have subjects such as gene splicing, genetics, biochemistry and microbiology.
Molecular Biomedicine
You will study human genes to learn how they interact with disease e.g. cancer, and how the results can be used in the development of new medicines.
Molecular Nutrition and Food Technology
The programme gives you an insight in the relationship between food production and human health. You will study molecular biology, food technology and nutrition.
Nanotechnology
In this programme you will learn to develop new materials and products using nanotechnology, e.g. new kinds of medicine or small industrial robots.
Parasitology
Parasites are tiny animals, plants or organisms that live off of sucking nutrients from others. They are often the cause of disease and illnesses. Parasitology is the study of parasites and their damaging effects.
Pharmaceutical Sciences
The programme focuses on the various phases of the drug development process. You will learn about pharmaceuticals from the discovery and development of new active substances to their effect and use in patients. An MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences will qualify you to work in in the pharmaceutical industry and in research and teaching.
Sustainable Energy Planning and Management
The global demand for sustainable energy, combined heat and power, and higher energy efficiency is growing rapidly. Utilities, local communities, and governmental authorities all over the world face new challenges in planning and implementing these technologies on local, national and international scales.
