Global Nutrition and Health Provides Challenges and Endless Possibilities
The Bachelor's Degree in Global Nutrition and Health is an international education in constant motion and development. It deals with issues related to health that we all face on a daily basis.
The basic core of the education is the international and dynamic teaching and learning environment with interesting and inspiring teachers as well as guest lectures.
All teaching, whenever working with e.g. food guidelines, health interventions, or policies, is focused on a three-dimensional structure of society which takes in to consideration the global, national, and local levels.
This education allows the student to develop and evolve individual ideas within each module and even smaller assignments can be transformed into real life projects e.g. we made a health communication assignment about the dangers of sun bathing, in cooperation with the Danish Cancer Society (Kræftens Bekæmpelse). Furthermore, the student is able to gain relevant work experience when going on internships (three times), either abroad or within Denmark, which can be important when applying for a job in the future.
Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in ‘Global Nutrition and Health’ are unique in the way that they possess strengths within a variety of nutrition, public health and lifestyle fields and are therefore capable of fighting current and future health and nutrition issues in both developing and developed countries, e.g.:
• Mal- and undernutrition
• Communicable diseases, e.g. HIV/AIDS
• Non-communicable diseases, e.g. lifestyle diseases like diabetes or cardiovascular disease
• Pesticide use, e.g. how will we grow agriculture in the future?
• Environmental policies, e.g. climate change and sustainability
The term ‘sustainability’ has existed for more than 40 years, but how can we will live and eat in a sustainable way and how do we make sustainable policies?
These topics are discussed and taught at Global Nutrition and Health.
