Summerschool: VIA University College
The summer school consist of a portfolio of courses taught in English at a Bachelor level within the fields of Business, Construction and Technology. This year the VIA Summer School programme includes even more courses for students interested in the social media and management of the future, entrepreneurship, website developing and device programming. VIA Summer School is happy to welcome Danish and international full degree students, exchange students and free movers.

This course deals with the processes of E-Business and Web applications with focus on how to introduce electronic commerce, services, and information through computer networks

Companies within manufacturing, distribution, retail and related industries are struggling with poor data quality. This course is structured as a workshop in which you will be taught disciplines within Master Data Management and Supplier Management in global enterprises, Data Quality and Data Stewardship, and related topics.

The Managerial Economics course is relevant for those students who want to learn more about economic concepts. Do you want to improve your English communication skills in a business setting? In this course, you will get to work with topics such as workplace communication, intercultural aspects of communication, business vocabulary, presentation and negotiation techniques and job interviews.

This class is to assist students to use the English language effectively in various situations, by focusing on active class participation through discussion, presentation and role playing, in order to ensure a high quantity of speaking activities.

German: General and Business Language
The course in German: General and Business Language provides its students with the ability to read, understand and discuss texts in German on social, business and engineering issues, providing the students with relevant business terminology.

Intercultural Business Communication

Philosophy of Science
The main purpose of the Philosophy of Science course is to introduce students to philosophy of science in an engineering context. One of the issues dealt with relates to exploring whether scientific results are actually a study of truth. consequences of science – to society and to scientists in general.

Tools & Strategies for Energy Efficient Renovation of Buildings
This course will enable upcoming professionals in handling the challenge of lowering or neutralizing energy consumption in buildings through the detection of energy loss sources, simulations in energy design with modern technologies, the intelligent application of insulation systems and energy producing aggregates.

Sustainable Strategies and “Cradle to Cradle” in the Built Environment
This course will enable upcoming professionals in handling the challenge of the future global environmental crisis by implementing sustainable strategies in addition to creating added value and quality by the “Cradle to Cradle” strategies in the building design. The course will focus on means of working with an integrated design process, incorporating the integration and development of sustainable solutions from the beginning of the design proposal.

Business Pilot – Planning the Business
This course will help you learn how to build a business around a great business

Idea Pilot
This course is for students who are constantly spotting new business ideas and developing ideas and concepts to utilize them. Digital Media Tools
This course is for the student who has an interest in digital media tools used in web applications. During the course topics such as “human computer action” and ”the user-centered development life cycle” will be covered. Mainly, the course is focused on introducing and exploring some of the major software tools used for creating digital graphics, multimedia and Web pages.

Digital Multimedia
The purpose of this course is to introduce the students to basic principles of each media type – text, graphics, audio, animation and video – describing their digitization and progressing onto issues that arises when media are combined; interaction provided by scripting and multimedia distributed over networks.

Programming & Web Engineering
FPGA Programming with VHDL and Simulation
This course is a practical workshop where you will learn how to program embedded applications using Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). During this process, you will also learn how to use the tools to simulate system behaviour in order to verify design alternatives prior to programming the FPGA.

LEGO Robot Lab
In the Lego Robot Lab course, you will learn how to program an embedded system: the LEGO Mindstorms NXT robot in the high level language JAVA. Furthermore, issues relating to programming embedded systems and digital control systems will be delt with during this course.

Web Engineering is seen as one of the key elements in integrating a systematic, disciplined and quantifiable approach to making prosperous solutions. This course aims at introducing the students to basic principles of the Web Engineering Process covering web development concepts, methods, tools and techniques.

E-Business and Web Applications

Mobile Applications
Ever wanted to make your own app? This main objective of the Mobile Application course is to provide you with knowledge of the architecture of the Android platform, as well as designing, implementing and testing Android Applications. Technical details of the Android platform, the tool chain and Android Virtual Device Manager and designing and implementing user interfaces will be dealt with.
