Masters - Humanities

This is a collection of all the masters within the field of Natural Science. The masters are all taught in english at one or more Danish Universities.
American Studies
The subjects areas are American culture, history and social conditions as well as American literary history and theories in American studies. You will learn to analyse American culture through humanistic and social theories and gain insight into e.g. American literature and film.
Applied Cultural Analysis
You will learn about e.g. theory of science, strategies for cultural analysis, fieldwork and project management as well as organisations and communication. The programme qualifies you to find solutions to cultural problems in organisations, e.g. in corporations or public institutions.
Arab and Islamic Studies
The master programme in Arab and Islamic Studies focuses on society, culture and history. You will study different aspects of the Arab and Islamic world, including the contemporary era, and gain a wide knowledge of Islam and Muslims around the world. You will continue to develop your skills in Arabic and you will be able to do your internship in Denmark or the Arab world. The programme provides the opportunity to work in many different fields such as; tourism, the media, the intelligence service, social work, refugee support or in the private sector with companies that have activities in the Arab world.
Architectural Design
The programme in Architecture and Design combines design with the technical planning of buildings, urban areas and industrial products. You can specialise in one of three areas depending on what you are most interested in; the development of architecture, urban design or industrial design. You will learn about concept development and gain a broad knowledge of theories and methods and how to apply these in practice when writing your thesis. Career opportunities exist in architects' practices, design companies and in the Research and Development departments of large organisations. You could work as a consultant, a landscape architect or as a development engineer.
Asian Studies Programme
You will be introduced to subjects related to e.g. International Business Economics and Comparative Social Analysis. You will learn to analyse international economies with focus on East Asia, learn to use practical Japanese or Chinese, and get a fundamental understanding of the social conditions.
Cognition and Communication
You will gain insight into theories of e.g. cognition, communication, thought and feelings, and you will study the interaction between people. Furthermore, the programme includes analysis of media products.You will learn how psychological and social processes influence communication.
Cognitive Semiotics
In the study of cognitive semiotics, you will research the structures behind all forms of human communication. In the programme you will work with various sign systems, such as language and images, and you will learn to work with classic models of signs and their functions.
Communication Design
On the English language Master of Communication Design, you will learn to work with the design of documentation, for example, manuals or user guidelines. You can choose between English, German or Danish as a foreign language. The degree will qualify you to work in both the public and private sector, where you will work with communication, e.g. development and editing of text.
Cultural Sociology
The programme combines sociology with cultural analysis and provides insight into the relationship between the individual and society and in handling social and cultural changes and development in organizations, communities and society. You will study the effects of social and cultural changes at individual, group and society level. You will choose between two profiles: Social transformation processes or Law, power and social justice.
Culture, Communication and Globalisation
You will learn about consumption and market communication, organisational culture and management, international migration and ethnic relations and international relations and the global order. The programme qualifies you to work with e.g. project management, communication and cultural exchange awareness in a global context.
Educational Anthropology
On the master programme in Educational Anthropology, you will learn how to use the theories and methods of anthropology to examine core issues in education and learning in a globalised world. Graduates will be qualified to work in international organisations or with education and learning in development countries.
English
This programme gives you knowledge about e.g. English literature and the English speaking countries' society and history. You will learn the oral and written English language through subjects such as grammar and phonetics. Furthermore, you will learn to analyse text, film, pictures, etc. in English.
EU-studies (MSc)
On the master programme you expand your knowledge of the legal basis and decision-making process of the EU institutions. You learn about the EU's political economy and examine the distributional consequences for the different member states.
European Studies (Humanities)
The subject areas in this programme are European history, politics and culture. The focus is on Europe's development, and e.g. political and cultural conditions that have influenced this. You will learn to analyse the political and economical integration in the EU as well as developments and conflicts in Europe.
Film Studies
You will study the theory and practice of subjects such as media organisations and institutions, film aesthetics as well as film history and analysis. The programme gives you insight into e.g. modern film culture, film reception and the interaction between film, TV and digital media.
International and Global History
This programme explores the international and global forces that have shaped the world today. You will learn how to analyse historical processes, conduct empirical research and to write comparative, international and transnational histories. You will gain knowledge of key themes in international history with special insight into the role played by Scandinavia. You can specialise in the history of a specific geographic region or in a particular aspect of international history, for example, imperialism and decolonisation, the world wars or European integration. Graduates of the programme are qualified to work in government, journalism, libraries and museums as well as for NGOs and international organisations.
International Studies
You will study subjects such as international history, international business analysis and law as well as international project management. The programme gives you insight into the work in international organisations and corporations. You can choose to study a single subject of the programme.
International Tourism and Leisure Management
This programme contains courses in language and culture plus economics including international economics, marketing, organisation and management. You will learn to communicate in English or German and gain insight into European social conditions, communication and tourism.
IT and Cognition
IT and Cognition is an interdisciplinary master programme where you can learn how to create IT products that make user’s daily life easier. All teaching is in English. You will learn how humans use language, images and thoughts to interact with each other and their environment. You will learn how to develop models of cognitive processes and use them to simulate human behaviour in computer programs. The combination of theory and practise will enable you to develop new technology for a wide range of industries. For example, you could work in finance or in the film and media industries.
Journalism, Media and Globalisation
The master degree programme in Journalism, Media and Globalisation combines journalistic theory and practice with a knowledge of globalisation as seen from a political, economic, social and cultural perspective. The first year of the degree programme takes place in Denmark where courses focus on globalisation and journalism. The second year takes place at one of four universities where you specialise in a particular subject.
