The Royal Danish Academy of Music is situated in Copenhagen. It is a dynamic and lively artistic educational institution which measures itself against the best music academies in Europe and around the world. The Academys’ key task is to continually develop classical music and enhance its topicality, in close interplay with today's artistic and cultural world.
The academy offers Bachelor, Master and Advanced post-graduate study programmes. The academy specializes in classical music and trains musicians, singers, music teachers, church musicians, composers, and recording directors in a broad range of subjects.
The Opera Academy trains opera singers in cooperation with The Royal Theatre and The Royal Danish Academy of Music.
Internationalization is an important part of everyday life at RDAM. That is why international cooperation and projects have been prioritized over the last 10 years. Advanced Postgraduate Diploma
The advanced postgraduate diploma programme takes two years. In the case of orchestral conducting, however, the programme takes three to four years.
You will receive teaching in your main study and take part in master classes with internationally renowned teachers. You will participate in different projects at RDAM and have the possibility to play concerts at RDAM. The final examination is a debut concert, held in one of our concert halls.

Bachelor of Music - Church Music
The Academy’s organ centre is centrally located in the building, and houses a great stylistic variety of instruments for practice and teaching. The organ department co-operates closely with the other departments of the Academy, particularly the early music department. The organ department also collaborates with many of Copenhagen’s principal churches, which provide practice and concert facilities for our students.

The Royal Danish Academy of Music Baroque Ensemble projects, which are led by internationally renowned musicians, form an important part of the study programme, together with tuition in chamber music. The projects are led by directors such as guest professor Rachel Podger, Alfredo Bernardini, Göran Karlsson and Andrew Lawrence-King. Students take part in a varied course in performance practice at a high level, and will learn how to conduct a small research project. The students will acquire a fundamental familiarity with basso continuo.

Orchestra Conducting
As an orchestral conductor, your principal study will be in conducting. As a student in the three or four-year orchestral conductor programme, you will specialise in the many possibilities of the symphony orchestra. To support your conducting, you will receive tuition in the analysis of form and structure, instrumentation, aural studies and coaching with répétiteur.

Practical ensemble experience will form an important part of your education. Here you will be able to work intensively to perfect your conducting technique, and you will be coached in artistic interpretation and implementation. Students of orchestral conducting will make the acquaintance of professionally-relevant ensembles. The Academy has good co-operation agreements with Copenhagen ensembles and the Danish regional orchestras.
The orchestral conductor programme is one of the most resource-intensive programmes at the Academy, providing practical training with both the Academy's orchestra and the Danish regional orchestras.
