The University College South Denmark has two main campuses, one in the town of Esbjerg and one in Haderslev, and three smaller satellite campuses in the towns of Kolding, Aabenraa and Sønderborg. The college currently has more than 6,500 students and 700 members of staff. With a degree in English and IT-based Marketing you can work as a communication adviser in an international organisation, as a marketing planner specialised in marketing in English-speaking countries, as an independent communication adviser or a score of related fields.

The degree in business English and communication focus on integrating the latest social media in a communication/marketing strategy. The programme consists of a theoretical part and a practical part. It is the aim of the study programme that students get a strong theoretical foundation while at the same time experiencing an in-depth understanding of how to apply these theories in real life situations.

The first semester will be taught exclusively in English. In subsequent terms English speaking instructors and experts participate in the course, but the main language of instruction is Danish. Students unfamiliar with the Danish language will have the opportunity to participate in an intensive Danish course during the first two semesters alongside the regular classes. This along with living in Denmark will mean that the students after the first year will be able to communicate sufficiently in Danish.

If you choose to complete the bachelor degree programme, you will graduate with the academic title Bachelor in English and IT-based Marketing Communication.

Entry Requirements

General admission requirements for international students include one of the following international certificates:

  • The Danish/French Baccalauréat (DFB), the European Baccalaureate (EB), the International Baccalaureate (IB), the Option Internationale du Baccalauréat (OIB) or another foreign qualifying examination certificate that can be equated with a Danish upper secondary school leaving certificate
  • Entrance examination for engineering
  • Vocational training as a mechanic (level 2) bodywork training, bicycle or motorbike mechanic (with dissertation) flight mechanic or industrial or agricultural mechanic (with dissertation).

In addition, there can be prerequisites for English and mathematics proficiencies at predefined levels.

Admission

The application deadline is March 15 for a course start in September. Admission is handled through The Danish Coordinated Application System. You can apply via optagelse.dk.

Tuition

There is a tuition fee for all full-degree students, unless you are a student from an EU/EEA country, or from Switzerland.

Students within an exchange programme are not required to pay tuition.

Teacher in Denmark/Bachelor of education

You will be authorized as a teacher for primary and lower secondary levels in three subjects. Denmark is in need of qualified teachers.

The first year the language of instruction is English or German, according to your choice. You will be integrated in a class of Danish students wanting to becometeachers of English or German as a foreign language. Alongside you will receive intensive training in the Danish language.

From the second year and onwards you will follow the usual syllabus in Danish and choose your second and your third subject. During your studies you will have 24 weeks of supervised school experience.

Teacher education in Haderslev has a leading position in using new technologies in teaching and learning. Each student receives a laptop computer at the beginning of their studies and the use of interactive boards is an integrated part of classroom teaching. 
The study is a mixture of lectures, group work, student presentations, and project oriented learning.

  • An upper secondary leaving certificate/high school diploma
