Aarhus University (AU) offers a comprehensive and internationally oriented summer university programme. Application deadline for students is the 15th of March every year. AU Summer University 2018 consists of more than 80 English taught courses within the fields of Humanities, IT and Media, Business and Economics, Business Communication, International Law, Health, Science and Technology.

The courses are taught at Bachelor’s or Master’s levels by Aarhus University's own lecturers and international guest lecturers. To balance things out and make sure that you get the most out of your summer, Aarhus University has prepared an activity filled social programme to ensure that you get to experience the best of Aarhus and Denmark from a leisurely perspective as well.


You will be able to receive ECTS credits by attending the course and taking the exam. The portfolio of courses will differ in workload, duration, credits awarded, and level depending on the academic focus area. As a general rule - but modified by course preparation time, workload and evaluation format:
  • 5 ECTS courses have a workload between 125 - 150 hours depending on academic focus area. Teaching takes place between 2-4 weeks with a total number of contact hours between 25-30 of 45 min. 
  • 10 ECTS courses have a workload between 250 - 300 hours depending on academic focus area. Teaching takes place between 3-4 weeks with a total number of contact hours between 50-60 of 45 min.
The AU Summer University is split into two terms, which are held in July and August. To find the exact dates of a course please visit the course overview via the link in this article. It is important to note that courses are intensive so you will only be able to attend one course at a time. Consequently courses that overlap are not an option.
