Description

An engineer specialising in Indoor Environmental and Energy Engineering is responsible for creating an ideal environment for work as well as leisure: that is, an environment that considers the need for well-being and comfort of the individual.

Construction and operation of buildings are responsible for more than 40% of the energy and material consumption in the world today. An engineer specialising in Indoor Environmental and Energy Engineering can reduce this consumption considerably by optimal design of the building and the building envelope, choice of materials, utilisation of different kinds of renewable energy and optimisation of the operation of the building.

During the study programme in Indoor Environmental and Energy Engineering, you will work with subjects such as
  • Simulation of indoor climate;
  • Energy consumption;
  • Air currents;
  • Ventilation plants and
  • Isolation
You will have great influence on the environmental development in our future society by working with subjects such as energy optimised buildings, alternative energy, indoor climate in offices and houses, heating plants and mechanical and natural ventilation.

Career Opportunities

Graduates from Indoor Environmental and Energy Engineering have many possible career paths, both in companies and authorities, and have well-developed skills for working with others from different professional and cultural backgrounds. You can work with specific building assignments doing calculations, choosing materials, and supervising the construction process.

Examples of where our graduates work include:
  • R&D in the private and public sector;
  • Danish Technological Institute;
  • Contracting industry;
  • Consulting engineering companies and
  • In the EU working with patenting
