DescriptionThe Master of Science in Environmental Engineering aims to provide students with the skills to develop sustainable solutions to complex environmental problems while taking into account social, legal, economic and resource issues. The degree is research-based and focuses on the technical and environmental sciences.
This is a broad, interdisciplinary and applied degree with the opportunity to specialize in many different types of environmental problems. These specializations include methods for dealing with waste and sewage from cities or industry or for decontaminating soil and groundwater. Methods and tools for reducing the environmental impact of industry can be investigated. Questions relating to the use of natural resources, for example groundwater resources and drinking- water production, can be considered. Courses can be taken in environmentally sustainable manufacturing, town planning, occupational health and safety, environmental regulation and environmental management.
Career OpportunitiesThe job situation of the graduates has been quite good the last years. More than half of the graduates found employment in the private sector, one tenth in the public sector and about one third continued with a PhD.
The typical job functions are consulting and counseling, planning, construction, project leadership and analysis, but also research, teaching, management, and administration were mentioned. More than two third of all graduates work in the sectors water supply, waste water, waste and resources, soil and groundwater remediation.

TuitionThere is a tuition fee for all full-time degree students who hold a citizenship from outside EU/EAA/Switzerland. Students within an exchange programme are not required to pay tuition.
