Automation engineering is about developing safe and innovative solutions for enterprises to ensure optimisation and development of their technical systems and automated facilities such as robotics technology.
About the programmeThe Automation Engineering programme gives you broad knowledge and insight into the construction and optimisation of technical control systems on your own and together with others.
The Automation Engineering programme matches the industrial enterprises of the future. You will learn about:
- Electrical engineering and measuring techniques
- Control and regulation technology as well as robotics technology
- Configuration and programming
- Preparation and dissemination of technical documentation
- Network technology
- Construction and project management of automation processes
- Installation and optimisation of large industrial constructions or industrial production
Programme structureIn the two-year programme you will be working with how to use specifications to select the optimum hardware solution and develop software, ranging from PLCs, over PCs to embedded SW controls.
Stays abroadIn the course of the Automation Engineering programme you will be able to go abroad for a three-month internship at one of the educational institutions with which UCN Business and UCN Technology cooperate.
As a graduateAutomation engineers are in charge of practical installation work such as mounting, commissioning, optimisation and operation of automatic systems in production environments.
Service and operations may also be included in the job functions of the automation engineers. Automation engineers may perform this work either as employees in a production plant or as employees of suppliers or sub-suppliers of such systems. Examples of work areas:
- Project manager
- Development engineer
- SRO (Control‚ Regulation and Monitoring) engineer
- Control, regulation and monitoring techniques
- Service engineer
- PLC programmer
- SCADA programmer
AdmissionTo be admitted to this programme, you must either have an upper secondary education or a relevant vocational or technical education.
