Do you see yourself developing, leading and managing large construction enterprises and are you looking for a career in international construction?

As an Architectural Technologist and Construction Manager you take part in the overall planning of a construction project. Your role will often be that of project manager or site manager in an entrepreneurial, engineering or architectural company.
The building process depends on the close cooperation between many different skills and specialists. The Architectural Technologist and Construction Manager plays an important role in tying together the knowledge and interests of the client, architects, engineers, tradesmen and authorities. This requires that you are able to cooperate and communicate with a range of different people with different educational, language, and cultural background. It also requires that you have a good general overview.

Interdisciplinary project work is the foundation

With the ATCM programme you will have an education aimed at solving complex problems that are based on real life construction tasks.
The programme consists of seven semesters (3½ years), and in the 6th semester you will be doing a twenty week internship in a Danish or foreign company. Each semester is based on an interdisciplinary semester project that is to be completed in groups of three or four students and will be tried at an exam at the end of the semester.
 In the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th semester you will have the opportunity to focus on an elective topic and complete an individual report about your chosen topic.


The courses in the programme

In the programme you will learn about project management, construction and design, the use of digital tools in the construction process, organisation and cooperation, and business operations and administration.


Education in cooperation with companies and with an international perspective

The ATCM programme offers a range of opportunities to gain international and practical experience as you are offered the opportunity to do an internship in a range of Danish or international companies as well as the opportunity to do a semester at a university abroad.

Practice-based education

On the IT Network & Electronics Technology programme, theory and practice are linked through project work in a contemporary lab environment. The lab environment contains a prototype workshop, measuring instruments, components and other material for prototype construction, development kits (microcontrollers, FPGA, DSP), patch panel with experimental networks and network components, server park etc. For programming purposes, you will need a PC of your own. You will find a description of requirements on the list of books and materials mandatory for joining the programme. We will supply free software during your studies. Among others, we have made agreements with Microsoft Academic Alliance, OrCad and Mathcad.


Instruction and work forms

On the IT Network & Electronics Technology programme we use a wide range of teaching methods that collectively support the learning goals described in the curriculum. The main teaching methods are dialogue-based class instruction and group project work. Our students also profit from study groups, independent study, individual assignments and projects, presentations for small groups and whole classes, interdisciplinary theme studies and many other study forms. We always try to set (or help set) clear goals for all learning activities.

The study programme covers 6 semesters and it gives you an understandig of cultural heritage, natural heritage and the experience economy.

Admission

There are four possible ways to qualify for admission on the Bachelor’s programme in Sport Management. At University College Northern Denmark we offer potential students the chance to join one of the three AP programmes:
  • Service, Hospitality & Tourism Management
  • Financial Management
  • Marketing Management
that make students eligible for attending the Sport Management programme. Alternatively, people with another educational background, or with a background or interest in the business, can have their competencies evaluated and possibly approved to attend the programme. Such students could be students who are studying to become teachers of P.E. Others with similar training in sports or physical education will be evaluated individually and may receive credit for previous studies.

The international profile of the Bachelor of Education programme might just be the right choice for you, if you are looking for a teacher training programme with in international perspective offering international career opportunities.

The Bachelor of Education programme is a 4- year BA programme and the objective of the programme is to train teachers for the primary and lower secondary schools and to provide students with a basis for further training.

The English taught international profile offered at UCN is especially targeted at international exchange students and international students pursuing a teaching career in Denmark.

At the international profile of the BA of Education programme you will meet a teacher training programme with an international perspective and emphasis. The aim of the international profile is to educate teachers who have specific competencies within language, culture and international cooperation and who will be able to develop and facilitate the international dimension of the classroom.

The BA programme mixes instruction in school subjects and educational theories with practical experiences of teaching.

The teaching atmosphere is informal and rooted in dialogue-based teaching combining theory and practice. Students are expected to play an active role and develop a critical and analytical approach to their acquired competences.

Students will acquire intercultural communication and research skills and they will develop skills to facilitate international cooperation.

Career Opportunities

Graduates will be qualified to work in the Danish public school system, in international schools in Denmark and in Europe or in schools with international profiles. Graduates will also be specifically qualified to work with multicultural aspects of teaching and classroom management.

About the Degree

At the international profile of the BA of Education programme the language of instruction is English the first two years of the programme.

On years three and four of the programme the language of instruction will be Danish. This means that students will follow the Danish taught modules together with the Danish students. On year 3 we expect that you have acquired the required language proficiency to follow the courses taught in Danish.
Language Center Aalborg offers intensive language courses for international students. Please contact the language center as special terms may apply.

As an integrated part of the international profile you will have 6 weeks of international teaching practice in a public or private school abroad.
