How can we use fairy tales and legends in education? Lean about stories as cultural and artistic expressions and examine their use from a didactic perspective. Explore myths, fairy tales, sociological, religious and structural theories, drama, theatre, puppet-making, story-telling and creative writing.

This course includes visits and excursions and is organised in collaboration with Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences. The course will run from mid-August to mid-December; 6,5 weeks in Copenhagen and 6,5 weeks in Oslo. The basic course is 20 ECTS, with an optional add-on of 10 ECTS.

Career opportunities

The course gives you competency in working creatively with music, art, drama etc., and you will learn about basic narrative patterns, so you will be able to use these in own productions as a part of your education. 

About the Degree

This is an exchange programme aimed at UCC’s strategic partners. Hence we encourage you to contact the International Coordinator at your home institution to learn whether your institution has such an arrangement with UCC. 


Students must have completed 2 years at BA level before entering the course. The course is in English at BA level - documentation may be required verifying that your proficiency in English match this level.

Students within an exchange programme are not required to pay tuition. When applying for a course, please check whether your university has a bilateral agreement with UCC. In order to receive an official referral to study at UCC, please contact the International Office at your university. UCC is an Erasmus Charter institution.

Without an exchange programme there is a tuition fee of approx.
30 ECTS: 3450 Euro
20 ECTS: 2300 Euro

Studying social education at Greater Copenhagen will equip you with skills in dealing with the pedagogical and social challenges of today's modern society. The education builds on a long Danish pedagogical tradition.

Modern day social educators and preschool teachers need to be capable of cooperation, leadership and independent practice in an environment of creativity, innovation and care. At Social Education Greater Copenhagen you are expected to participate in group work, to play an active role in discussions etc. and to be able to work independently as well. Personal interest in the field of pedagogy and curiosity are important factors when studying social education. 

We are located close to Skovlunde Station, which you can easily get to by railway train.
