DescriptionThe bachelor (BA) top-up spreads over three semesters, which is one and a half years. On the AP degree programme you achieved basic insight and tools to navigate in the fashion industry, whereas the BA top-up gives you the chance to become deeply absorbed in the areas of retail management. At this stage we expect you to be able to work more independently.
The programme is organised so that you first do common core projects for all BA students and then put a profound focus on your chosen speciality.
Elective course subjects and a placement period in the fashion industry are compulsory parts of the programme as well, and you conclude your studies with a bachelor assignment.
This programme is also offered as an exchange programme.
Career OpportunitiesYou will be able to transfer the core values and concept of the store right through to the employees so that the relation between idea and implementation is clear and distinctive. You will acquire a profound knowledge of how to supervise and motivate staff and you gain insight into developing and optimising store concepts.
About the DegreeRetail Management is an area of specialisation on the Bachelor (BA) top-up programme. You learn to develop and manage shops within the fashion and lifestyle sector.You will be able to transfer the core values and concept of the store right through to the employees in order to make the relation between idea and implementation clear and distinctive. By gaining an in-depth understanding of consumer behaviour and marketing you will be able to fine-tune the store management and you will learn to work in an independent manner with development, human resources and strategy on a skilled level.
AdmissionTo be eligible to apply for the international BA top-up degree you need to have completed one of the programmes from the list below.
- An AP Degree in Design, Technology and Business, AP Degree in Multimedia Design & Communication, AP Degree in Production Technology, AP Degree in Marketing Management or similar
- 6th semester from The Danish Design School or from The Kolding School of Design.
- A needlework teacher exam or an exam from an internationally acknowledged design school
- A Bachelor in either Design or Business from an international university/university college.
You are also required to have obtained mathematics/economics corresponding to a Danish level C - and English corresponding to a Danish level B. Read more about the requirements here.

TuitionThere is a tuition fee for all full-time degree students from outside the EU, EEA, Switzerland and Turkey.
The tuition fees are:
- 1st year (5th and 6th semester): EUR 15.000
- 7th semester: EUR 7.500
