Description

The programme in Pattern Design provides you with a basic understanding of pattern design and the applied theories and methods within the fashion industry. Pattern Design is a hands-on programme, which means that you will be acquainted with tools and methods that are essential for your future career or if you choose to continue your studies on our BA top-up programme.
You achieve basic knowledge of materials and how to design patterns for clothing of all sizes. You learn about women’s wear and are trained to use CAD software, which is an important tool for the pattern designer.

Career Opportunities

With an AP degree specialising in Pattern Design you have the chance to work as an assistant within the fashion sector. Your job is to assist the pattern designer in developing measurement charts and workshop drawings. This is an important part of the preliminary work, when the collection is put into production. Likewise, the assistant has to check the quality of the samples.

Several AP degree graduates choose to follow a BA top-up programme, which gives you access to a wider range of career prospects.

About the Degree

The Academy Profession programmes combine theory with practice and are suited for employment in business and industry. In some programmes students have the possibility of a top-up degree in which they continue at a bachelor level within a prespecified or related field. The top-up degree is a 90 ECTS supplement programme resulting in a Professional Bachelor Degree.
